Success Stories
Chembe Village
Chembe Village is at the bottom of 3000 ft canyon. Chembe is accessible only by aircraft or 2 day climb up canyon.

Note corn warehouse at left foreground, & canyon wall in distance.
When one looks a Chembe on a map, one asks “why is this isolated?”, since it is only a short distance off the main highway. The answer is the canyon! Chembe is on a river, downstream from a hydro-electric power generation dam on a “side canyon”. Not only do the local people get no electricity, but the river no longer floods, so the fields now only produce one crop per year, compared to 3 crops before.
Total communications infrastructure for 4000 people:
One solar panel, one battery, one radio and antenna; and one computer.
Chembe Antenna & Solar Panel.
